I am drawn to colored glass and pick up any I see at thrift stores and garage sales. Mostly my collection consist of green glass. Anyone seen Return to Oz?<br />
<br />
My collection also usually rests in a box gathering dust. I came across said box and thought about how I've went with <a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/2011/03/kids-art-display.html">green hues in my kitchen</a>. Perfect opportunity. A little love for St. Patrick's Day too!<br />
<br />
After a good bath, the glass was ready to display. I also added my green dish soap, a thing that reminded me of a ferris wheel, and Glad Hand ( that's what the antique store called it) to the display. Plus my green egg cup with a real eggshell housing the spider plantlet rooting.<br />

It's difficult to get decent shots- for me anyway! As the sun sets, the whole kitchen is bathed in a cheery green light. It's such a bright spot in a dimly lit kitchen.<br />

Since I have made <a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/2011/02/family-hq.html">Family HQ</a> there is not anywhere, but the fridge to display the 100 pieces of art that come home from school each week. We have a small wall in the kitchen that wasn't getting much love- the perfect place for a larger scale display! I saw a clipboard art display idea at <a href="http://lansdownelife.blogspot.com/2011/02/playroom-clipboards-for-displaying.html">Lansdowne Life</a>.<br />
<br />

</tbody></table>I bought 6 acrylic frames at Dollar General for $2.50 each. I could of waited to thrift regular clipboards for much less, but I was eager to get it done. As you will see acrylic frames caused some issues- thrift or buy the particle board ones to make it easier on yourself.<br />

Up until this point, I haven't done any decorating in the kitchen. I needed to settle on a basic color scheme. It has proved difficult because the entry, living room, hall, and the kitchen are all open to one another. For the living room area, I had relied on a craigslist dot "wall thingy." The living room is blue hues and accented with more colors from the "wall thingy." Yes, I'm going to keep calling it that. So, I pulled it out and went to matching up scrapbook paper. I've settled on green hues for the kitchen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie9ok6dB7n1eQkQkJtflJLZGVTAyKdoKs9m6yMYyEXDWy7fIrFg1ZmlA6d-G95GDwXlbtEWF1_OrKTo98INje5pP1e0MmEeLEBuPFgJJ82o7wfMaibWaskvX0ckA-l2Re3pbo0KT5oLEo/s1600/ainspiration.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie9ok6dB7n1eQkQkJtflJLZGVTAyKdoKs9m6yMYyEXDWy7fIrFg1ZmlA6d-G95GDwXlbtEWF1_OrKTo98INje5pP1e0MmEeLEBuPFgJJ82o7wfMaibWaskvX0ckA-l2Re3pbo0KT5oLEo/s320/ainspiration.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I did some measuring and cut a template. The 12X12 scrapbook paper wasn't big enough so it left a gap at the top. Since I bought all the clipboards in different colors, it didn't look cohesive. I took the scraps of paper and made little coordinating toppers for each clipboard. Much better!<br />

She suggested going easy with the mod podge and drying throughly between applications. It worked! There were still some wrinkles, but I left them alone (as she also suggested) and they were not so bad after it dried. I blame the acrylic clipboards!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>This is the second installment of the making of Family HQ! The first step was <a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/2011/02/bulletin-board-switcharoo.html">redoing the bulletin board</a>. Keeping to <a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/2011/02/goals-2-new-pages.html">my goals</a>, the chore chart is essential to teaching them responsibility and lightening the load on me. We have done many chore charts in the past, but I've found they only do the chores when they want and for money! <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">I came across <a href="http://www.couponcookin.com/goals/resolutionize-chores-allowance/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+CouponCookin+%28Coupon+Cookin%27%29">Coupon Cookin’s</a> genius approach to chores. She gives the children responsibilities to complete before extra chores can be earned for allowance. For more tips and a free chore chart printable visit <a href="http://www.couponcookin.com/goals/resolutionize-chores-allowance/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+CouponCookin+%28Coupon+Cookin%27%29">Coupon Cookin</a>! </div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">To get started, I wrote a list of responsibilities I felt the kiddos should complete without compensation.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><ul><li>Make bed </li>
<li>Feed dog</li>
<li>Put away toys</li>
<li>Set/ clear table</li>
<li>Put away clean clothes (this will be a life saver for me)</li>
</ul><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Next, I made another list of chores that I would be willing to compensate for- AFTER MY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE COMPLETED.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><ul><li>Vacuum </li>
<li>Empty bathroom trashes </li>
<li>Outside trash pick up</li>
<li>Wipe sinks </li>
<li>Dust </li>
<li>Windows</li>
</ul><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">As for compensation, each chore will be worth a quarter, 15 minutes of video game, 15 minutes of computer time, or 15 minutes of T.V. I painted wooden shapes to be the Media Tokens to give to the kids. I opted not to label them for flexibility.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmRz_zcRsJcsBnekBAe5fE1mBPzXyB9bIwRJWIniaDGEy1v8viEANjBis7_JLdN2a9CMux_2HqIrIxpI8g3M83Rxl9Z3H3fAd1KrFRMGBqZ33JoNfyAy4g4FX7R7FHoN90HKVmnzIZDoU/s1600/apple.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmRz_zcRsJcsBnekBAe5fE1mBPzXyB9bIwRJWIniaDGEy1v8viEANjBis7_JLdN2a9CMux_2HqIrIxpI8g3M83Rxl9Z3H3fAd1KrFRMGBqZ33JoNfyAy4g4FX7R7FHoN90HKVmnzIZDoU/s320/apple.jpg" width="320" /></a></div></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">The actual chore chart is 2 charts- one for responsibilities and one for chores. Each chart has the written words and a picture for each responsibility and chore.<br />
<br />
On the written side, my 7 year old (K)will check off her duties and the picture side is for my 5 year old(R). My kids seem to like using stickers to signify they did the job. To accommodate daily stickers, I attached strips of paper streamers. Each day a fresh streamer can go up!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCBnL8LPmKgO5z9gX-wmCcnSaZ4Egl2nvkgGh8DOHIngHTVk1xi9z9boxK7ckX0S_KO-EBCM7G6TYxRLdRRSTD6XT93HjiXzjKMAh47kjsuVmx2Uy3fgKuCT6MIfwqejkwrtmQ2imXoLc/s1600/apple2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCBnL8LPmKgO5z9gX-wmCcnSaZ4Egl2nvkgGh8DOHIngHTVk1xi9z9boxK7ckX0S_KO-EBCM7G6TYxRLdRRSTD6XT93HjiXzjKMAh47kjsuVmx2Uy3fgKuCT6MIfwqejkwrtmQ2imXoLc/s320/apple2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Of course, I chose the Cricut to style this project. Each individual letter placement was reminiscent of the <a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/2011/02/pieces-of-my-heart-typography.html">Heart Typography project</a>. Like the heart project, my muffin tin method came in handy. And look from my craft and stash stealth mode, I have dried letters and glue still in it. It POPPED right out! Wahoo! Too bad it’s not that easy with paintbrushes with dried glue…<br />

</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><b>Here’s the rundown with the Cricut</b></div></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><ul><li>Cricut Lite Chore Chart for the pictures cut at 2 inches</li>
<li>Alphalicious- cut at 1 inch for lettering. Braces cut at 2.25 inches. (Might too big)</li>
<li>For the chart headers, letters cut 1.75 inches with the ‘O’ and ‘P’ cut to 1.25 inches to save room on RESPONSIBILITIES.</li>
<li>Home Décor- label layer cut at 6 inches each to frame out headers.</li>
</ul><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">After I got everything in place, I noticed the headers were washed out against the yellow scrapbook paper. I should have used the shadow feature in the maroon polka dotted paper-BUT it was all glued and I was running out of paper. I just took a marker and traced around the header letters for definition. It’s not perfect…<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjydojsdwTBg3O8HCeT9o5bRD9QqGtsApOX_8pnWtnOMQdK62qyMJVWLlc9tyNU5Hbaay07DplpQeX3DVFty6KQCOoTjDhpPWS3rIhuhqKphy8GsyA8a-49khxPWlNVcb0P2HUIGcQ3Pno/s1600/ape6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjydojsdwTBg3O8HCeT9o5bRD9QqGtsApOX_8pnWtnOMQdK62qyMJVWLlc9tyNU5Hbaay07DplpQeX3DVFty6KQCOoTjDhpPWS3rIhuhqKphy8GsyA8a-49khxPWlNVcb0P2HUIGcQ3Pno/s320/ape6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">I really had to let go of perfectionism and just get this done. If I hadn’t let letters be a little wonky and outlines a little uneven THIS WOULD NOT OF GOT DONE AT ALL! The chart is supposed to help everyone and not become a problem itself.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Hooray for character!<br />

It's a cute little accessory that could be done many ways. But, here's how I did it...<br />
<br />
I grabbed a book heading to the thrift store and cut little odd shapes out. Don't worry I used the excerpt tucked in the back. If they really want to read the excerpt they can go check the book!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKiaaTF5IfQBU7g6W-YWloqjNe4Hd6flQUgQDLK6wus-RSyTXFAIYOQyzQrq1Zep5HWLwSpHeJJ0Fls-jKiZ6KdgbrPIUcVPV5QiYFS2PfPTZQavxkZDqq_alwIYHAj8fkwvs5mHMNbFM/s1600/DSCF1290.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKiaaTF5IfQBU7g6W-YWloqjNe4Hd6flQUgQDLK6wus-RSyTXFAIYOQyzQrq1Zep5HWLwSpHeJJ0Fls-jKiZ6KdgbrPIUcVPV5QiYFS2PfPTZQavxkZDqq_alwIYHAj8fkwvs5mHMNbFM/s320/DSCF1290.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I stacked the shapes on top of each other gluing in between, then added a little mirror to the top.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8EH4N9dYWAzMO-fougnuNmp853GCHuubTertb824jauQM20O8f1iTSerqn_7drFrSPbF0-_M_oojsqVTmXweFKfRqsRfDxE8Dz70GXhj7RgbsuDzpwSE_TAlzq3viPjYM2rwWPY167j8/s1600/DSCF1291.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8EH4N9dYWAzMO-fougnuNmp853GCHuubTertb824jauQM20O8f1iTSerqn_7drFrSPbF0-_M_oojsqVTmXweFKfRqsRfDxE8Dz70GXhj7RgbsuDzpwSE_TAlzq3viPjYM2rwWPY167j8/s320/DSCF1291.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Yes, I did use super glue. Not a great idea, but I made it work. I found a 'g' leftover from a Cricut project and gave the mirror a frame with it. Next, I wrapped brown ribbon around a simple bobby pin- gluing to secure.<br />

Whew! Had to wipe the screen off! It looked like I had dandruff. If it appears that way on your screen, please wipe off your screen too. If it's still there, e-mail me...<br />

I was eager to get started on <a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/2011/02/goals-2-new-pages.html">my goals</a>. My priority is the kiddos and that means my first project is a bulletin board. ? Well, see I had to fix up the bulletin board before I could implement my grand Family HQ plan. (look for it later this week)<br />
<br />
Here's what we were working with or rather NOT:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp4624gkQUjI78-X8i7QIFm3ZV2kMlziMszXJyBJi7xye22fUBW_bgbPlf_dG6QjRKBeFXeqDlOBaoFHjtVgZ2OYwEmN6i1DuN7gY0NOgGedYgHv4jjxUu961urfNIIbiJRVTI7ZvqEpQ/s1600/before+bull.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp4624gkQUjI78-X8i7QIFm3ZV2kMlziMszXJyBJi7xye22fUBW_bgbPlf_dG6QjRKBeFXeqDlOBaoFHjtVgZ2OYwEmN6i1DuN7gY0NOgGedYgHv4jjxUu961urfNIIbiJRVTI7ZvqEpQ/s400/before+bull.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
The board is a mess of random things. Nothing functional happening AT ALL! Plus with the laundry/mudroom door open this is the view from the couch... much further away though.<br />
<br />
The walls in the laundmudroom were painted this sunny yellow when we moved in. I like it, but the intensity can be a bit much sometimes. I want to do a white beadboard chair rail to increase durability and chill out the yellow. With that in mind, I painted the trim of the board plain white.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi51_zIXmxaes-QjlLuLmSu6uAMIYRHD-XskDWX076gYtSiReUZ9iGkS7b7AqC5KDo8W0rXXLDXs0jEV9C2bNPKpQTcg5Ee3lOjSNAwz8Vy7j1UiSdyHy4IJ0OB5zqtgwgoWawYL5zUcso/s1600/DSCF1207.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi51_zIXmxaes-QjlLuLmSu6uAMIYRHD-XskDWX076gYtSiReUZ9iGkS7b7AqC5KDo8W0rXXLDXs0jEV9C2bNPKpQTcg5Ee3lOjSNAwz8Vy7j1UiSdyHy4IJ0OB5zqtgwgoWawYL5zUcso/s400/DSCF1207.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/2011/02/baby-sock-specimen-art.html">Once again</a>, I did 5 coats of paint because I did not prime. I think I've learned my lesson because it's peeling off currently. <br />
<br />
The frame is held together in the corners by heavy duty staples. I knew if I took it apart it would NEVER be the same and most likely fall apart later. I opted to paint my 5 layers of paint messy style right over the cork. After it dried I had to go around and break the super seal I put between the frame and the cork... living and learning, I suppose!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV1SkeSl_e33HxiAjKnRvwxYmgEmGZ_Lxm4BeR5GwPYCmjE9uoRkmVRS7QgQbsoC1PyW9o6VQlIE0c23IJ7Q8UNOjhYc2zNawKtV6XBpaxoE7z0zDwvt5Rfwhq50uGoZLuQbwUr3Bd9RQ/s1600/break+the+painy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img b="" border="0" c="" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV1SkeSl_e33HxiAjKnRvwxYmgEmGZ_Lxm4BeR5GwPYCmjE9uoRkmVRS7QgQbsoC1PyW9o6VQlIE0c23IJ7Q8UNOjhYc2zNawKtV6XBpaxoE7z0zDwvt5Rfwhq50uGoZLuQbwUr3Bd9RQ/s400/break+the+painy.jpg" v="" width="400" /><br />
<br />
\<br />
</a></div><br />
The material I'm using is a queen size bed sheet that was only used a month before we got a bigger bed. I love the colors and pattern. I thought the launmudroom's sunny yellow could handle the darker colors of the sheet. Plus, I've still got the coordinating flat sheet, pillowcases, and shams... I'm thinking curtains!<br />
<br />
The frame situation made me take the tedious route of stuffing the sheet between the frame and the cork. THEN, stuffing some more to tuck the edges.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAPggXtKooRc1Ot-SeC0B1Cek5omCfYrX7iG88vKPARCtKWxWNEi3RFdf-wwX-5UxJNn8QbRsNUNeDw3ohRTgHYKuISXceeeoJbhXslzXWAEE8MivZrjIolYC5sitFayTUk23Wbfoe_o/s1600/DSCF1217.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAPggXtKooRc1Ot-SeC0B1Cek5omCfYrX7iG88vKPARCtKWxWNEi3RFdf-wwX-5UxJNn8QbRsNUNeDw3ohRTgHYKuISXceeeoJbhXslzXWAEE8MivZrjIolYC5sitFayTUk23Wbfoe_o/s400/DSCF1217.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
The result is smoooth and taunt. But, not too taunt. I tested to make sure as I stuck tacks in it the material did not give.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJDyk_SWHfVRNPK4JAIr-8sqEmMWo24fyHx5fmmOE1YqkQ8YER1zsjOI_j4qRfSU8Kwgi0NQtfxrN0o9tM5sbtM0wRgOhfoDRJSKs43WOBpYQZ2Hq4P3UH68EOlWDNkzGzTQzu_wYHl3c/s1600/smooth.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJDyk_SWHfVRNPK4JAIr-8sqEmMWo24fyHx5fmmOE1YqkQ8YER1zsjOI_j4qRfSU8Kwgi0NQtfxrN0o9tM5sbtM0wRgOhfoDRJSKs43WOBpYQZ2Hq4P3UH68EOlWDNkzGzTQzu_wYHl3c/s400/smooth.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Here is the finished project. The shot is not close because I'm going to have a whole post of the function of this board. I added a little stool so the kids can access the board easily.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7sng2ALkuYbeVOWrYkqty4UE9hmSYvS_dVqpJOlsjAujF7NUEcHC6KT4990Ka5WicpMj1rz7dXv9b_mJpF6kC6MnlN5wthnEYGct9-Zsaf4NE1MhlTy9OeHMxXwFCCsP-rGwN3Sijgn0/s1600/bullentinafter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7sng2ALkuYbeVOWrYkqty4UE9hmSYvS_dVqpJOlsjAujF7NUEcHC6KT4990Ka5WicpMj1rz7dXv9b_mJpF6kC6MnlN5wthnEYGct9-Zsaf4NE1MhlTy9OeHMxXwFCCsP-rGwN3Sijgn0/s400/bullentinafter.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Now to the other side of the room. The brown laminate cabinets are not centered on the washer and dryer. The dryer was pushed up against the window. Half of the heating vent was blocked by the dryer. To stop air flow, someone taped cardboard to half of it. The little white cabinet had no function except to collect clutter. The whole deal was driving me nuts!<br />
<br />
I took a peek inside the white cabinet and it was held by 2 screws to the wall! Yay! I can fix this! I moved the cabinet under the opposite folding counter. There is quite a gap, but I will deal with it when I fix up (and paint with PRIMER) those brown laminate cabinet.<br />
<br />
Overall, the it feels so much better in the laundry nook off the mudroom! I can't wait to dive into painting, shelving and molding! <br />
<br />

<br />
I love to leave comments. But, lately I'm getting so frustrated because I will write a well thought out comment and BAM! the dreaded WORD VERIFICATION REJECTION! That's usually where the comment ends. Word verification is the number one comment killer in my book. <br />
<br />
I've seen a ton of people mentioning it and so I made a button!!! Please feel free to grab it... a sort of a PSA.<br />
<br />
If you really get spam then by all means word verification the crap out of your blog. I have never had a spam comment. Maybe it's because I'm not attracting as much traffic as others.<br />
<br />

<br />
Today I was storing away some baby clothes. I could of just cried. I held every little outfit and cuddled it! I came across a baby sock and it fit right on my thumb.<br />
<br />
As all mothers do, I want to keep lots of outfits because they give me the warm fuzzies. It seems like such a shame to stuff them into a spacebag and have them just sit there though.<br />
<br />
Aha! An idea!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiREt-XZAQLRkSZbTNUMjJ_MEHFneetNhD7TGqy31pEK3_hYiDMrJNlwOmPbZUE4wCUadzAkA6WuOukuUGovTLspZvBpVNInIGTRYYbYtZ9zTvdpPFfxvvTznNHvvczwSZeqbMW5RsqNVE/s1600/DSCF1206.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiREt-XZAQLRkSZbTNUMjJ_MEHFneetNhD7TGqy31pEK3_hYiDMrJNlwOmPbZUE4wCUadzAkA6WuOukuUGovTLspZvBpVNInIGTRYYbYtZ9zTvdpPFfxvvTznNHvvczwSZeqbMW5RsqNVE/s400/DSCF1206.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I have this shadowbox frame that I super glued some keys in. I'm not really happy with the frame color or the fact you can see the glue all over the keys. Oh and it fell off the wall and got busted. <br />
<br />
I gave the shadowbox many many coats of white paint. I did not sand or prime. I know, I know. By the way, a dish green scrubbie doesn't do well as sandpaper. LOL, just a little FYI.<br />
<br />
I popped in a light piece of scrapbook paper, pinned the socks in place, and used letter stickers for each kiddos initial. Tada! Laundry room art!<br />
<br />

Now when I'm standing in the laundry room folding my life away, I can remember when they were sooo tiny and it will make it so much better.<br />
<br />
Keep an eye out for more laundry room projects! The laundry/mudroom is my current project. Here's what's up- a little laundry organization, shoe storage, de-brown laminating, family calendar, and bench seating.<br />
<i><br />
Until next time! <br />

They so happen to fit on the top of my laundry room cabinets. The top of the cabinets have been a place to stuff things that have no home. And it's gotten UGLY.<br />
<br />
I wanted to see what I could do with the boxes to gussy them up. I just grabbed what I had. Which just happened to be a skirt printed pattern, a stapler, some fabric glue, and some clearance Christmas ribbon. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLXZuMSr62H3IEl98nMhOBu4b0ctogN7bhywzQcsNIfGKZjHsA49Zd_tDcEHOJjz7hsVDPFmcniidBmuW92xYt8YhqtGg2k1q_6-19ySSKNgGbJNcRzOfSQ4WdV86PYqZBzQiFmN8ec6Y/s1600/c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="300" width="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLXZuMSr62H3IEl98nMhOBu4b0ctogN7bhywzQcsNIfGKZjHsA49Zd_tDcEHOJjz7hsVDPFmcniidBmuW92xYt8YhqtGg2k1q_6-19ySSKNgGbJNcRzOfSQ4WdV86PYqZBzQiFmN8ec6Y/s400/c.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I just present style wrapped the box and tucked the ends through the handle holes. Then slashed a big X for my opening. I stuffed the leftover X down and went to town with a stapler. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXrf96O9oUghlLRUlWds5T-fAtlyAusHRlVUrn5xZDzfPxEHM76fUIWdgM4fr8atDegJ6wf5jMyZlhHfEJkJ1HqwB55qJN5iCWEwP0lnJY7FJhVCxqtoTCQft7M74DlPdphQfnitE89oI/s1600/e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="300" width="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXrf96O9oUghlLRUlWds5T-fAtlyAusHRlVUrn5xZDzfPxEHM76fUIWdgM4fr8atDegJ6wf5jMyZlhHfEJkJ1HqwB55qJN5iCWEwP0lnJY7FJhVCxqtoTCQft7M74DlPdphQfnitE89oI/s400/e.jpg" /></a></div><br />

To finish it up, I added the ribbon to the top.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_opoEVy-DijBN-qRfHQiZ1A6tJtZeitHj9VDMAInCeRwab105CETLC8slACRYIRWR-vQdrxf_0wGVg3SvjJtZ3ggPk7koECuE4ZvvtKxlSiP9ePYoJ0HbOV2ZAsYG5QFrR0T63P6e-Pc/s1600/ab.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="300" width="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_opoEVy-DijBN-qRfHQiZ1A6tJtZeitHj9VDMAInCeRwab105CETLC8slACRYIRWR-vQdrxf_0wGVg3SvjJtZ3ggPk7koECuE4ZvvtKxlSiP9ePYoJ0HbOV2ZAsYG5QFrR0T63P6e-Pc/s400/ab.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Looking back, this could of been done smarter and less messy. But Let's Make It Now is just that. Sometimes you just gotta do it right then, you know?<br />
<br />
I did not put it in the laundry room because I want more to match- that will be a different post. It is still serving it's purpose as a clutter catcher!<br />

I sent my Honey Bunny this picture message today. Just a little something to let him know I was thinking of him. You can run outside and do that too, right? Sand, dirt, rocks- anything! Brighten someone's day...Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01609662096273310960noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3413921341712063318.post-28058086415321277842011-02-08T00:26:00.001-08:002011-02-22T15:15:16.384-08:00Goals & 3 New Pages!I love creating. I love writing. I love sharing and meeting new friends. <br />
I've been blogging along for 2 weeks now. I had incredible response from my post "Pieces of My Heart Typography". Lofty blogging ideas abound and I'm totally hooked. <br />
<br />
I expected little to no response to my projects. However that's not the case. (THANK YOU ALL!!!) I needed to set some goals for myself and remember why I pushed publish on my first post. They also needed to fit with my life. I think everyone should ask themselves these questions. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUf7_yeoF-46SG1LoWBNFyc26dPn8eKcVHvIdodVDme1V1XD1ZTCsCKut77zd73LXEM7cQ24kSgYys5-OKpki3_iWPthg4nnrRRNSfb1Yt8Tgietu2WYB4ToRGxwikhH5iSaDMLukcdqw/s1600/Old+Pictures+091.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUf7_yeoF-46SG1LoWBNFyc26dPn8eKcVHvIdodVDme1V1XD1ZTCsCKut77zd73LXEM7cQ24kSgYys5-OKpki3_iWPthg4nnrRRNSfb1Yt8Tgietu2WYB4ToRGxwikhH5iSaDMLukcdqw/s400/Old+Pictures+091.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Like why do make the doofiest lookin picture your profile picture? LOL. By the way, I'm standing in front of a picture of the forest pretending to run through it. <br />
<br />
Sorry, I just needed to add a picture to this post- ok ok seriously:<br />
<br />
What are my blogging goals? How do they fit with my personal goals? <br />
<br />
First, the word that defines my personal goals for 2011 is Polish. I've got so tied up in acquiring things. Things like a house, family, business etc. Yes I acquired all that, but it was half assed. My house is a mess. My kids are not learning responsibility. My business records are a wad of paper in a box. The list goes on. My goal is to polish and streamline everything going on. <br />
<br />
Now, to my blogging goals. I want my blog to make me accountable to my personal goals. I only want to post or make something for me. I want to connect with like minded bloggers and make new friends. <br />
<br />
With that being said, I've created 3 new pages. One lists <a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/p/projects-in-hopper.html">my goals</a> that I want to blog about. There's just a few right now, but I will be adding more. <br />
<br />
The second is for <a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/p/best-of-friends.html">my friends</a> to showcase and inspire others!<br />
<br />
Last is an <a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/p/bloggity-support-group.html">idea.</a> I hope it will grow into more, but it will depend on the response. <br />
<br />
Thanks for reading! I'm so thankful for all you readers.<br />
<br />
Can anyone else relate? Am I just a crazy person? What are your blogging goals?<br />
<br />

<br />
I must tell you, I love this project! It was a labor of love in many ways. My neck and eyesight for one. But, the real 'heart' of this typography is all my love for Honey Bunny. The little sentiments, sayings, private jokes, and special times combine for the full picture of how he has my heart. Literally. <br />
<br />
A must for this project is a Cricut or the like and a muffin tin...or a relish tray.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCun6r5h1N-lkoKXCoSwzxyDTQx3GfUFj67fNVP-VuPmjB5bGdhKMHFv1xhxZDUrikOnTwB7q5ezNrD7o-6r9TGoaUVg3n9Zj2edmvBZCpgNQOb0HKUQUv4Ut1gzJgzJiWEW1d3xwsrjc/s1600/DSCF1058.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear:left; float:left;margin-right:1em; margin-bottom:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCun6r5h1N-lkoKXCoSwzxyDTQx3GfUFj67fNVP-VuPmjB5bGdhKMHFv1xhxZDUrikOnTwB7q5ezNrD7o-6r9TGoaUVg3n9Zj2edmvBZCpgNQOb0HKUQUv4Ut1gzJgzJiWEW1d3xwsrjc/s320/DSCF1058.JPG" /></a></div><br />
It holds all the goodies: glue, cast off letters, scraps from the letters, and tweezers. I used a sponge brush to get small amounts of glue ready and to serve as a wiping area for excess glue. It worked quite nice. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiolfu1q2WB-x8ptA5YGIiN33pkZqJUSptvEwWGSKw11h7BnfP3KeshKDOeidsfNVs_NHzJL1_9H0me6RBh3SduDUAOHP1vFCy2hP0WgKsn9kriJZxYU85o7L25vl6335GGVhWHo_VP8hw/s1600/DSCF1061.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear:left; float:left;margin-right:1em; margin-bottom:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiolfu1q2WB-x8ptA5YGIiN33pkZqJUSptvEwWGSKw11h7BnfP3KeshKDOeidsfNVs_NHzJL1_9H0me6RBh3SduDUAOHP1vFCy2hP0WgKsn9kriJZxYU85o7L25vl6335GGVhWHo_VP8hw/s320/DSCF1061.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
Let's get started!<br />
<br />
I gave a plain canvas a nice coat of metallic white craft paint. I wanted just white to pop the red, but I think the metallic gives a nice interest. I cut the biggest heart out with the Cricut, but it was not as large as I wanted. I just loosely outlined the heart to get a basic shape. <br />

With the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, I cut words in varying size half inch to one and half inches. I placed the chunkier ones around the perimeter to get started. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi28PSmCPaAt25hsLZyhmRrtM7_YFPbgUYf_GcpNZPFAfqUUuKOFBWs09efAY4PjWbaf_86pcVkbRzOw4jFi6alSMaDyzwjMpSOtcTgQAatnM0N1Jjiux0dPRyiySiqIdnCs2uW4jsckck/s1600/DSCF1056.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear:left; float:left;margin-right:1em; margin-bottom:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi28PSmCPaAt25hsLZyhmRrtM7_YFPbgUYf_GcpNZPFAfqUUuKOFBWs09efAY4PjWbaf_86pcVkbRzOw4jFi6alSMaDyzwjMpSOtcTgQAatnM0N1Jjiux0dPRyiySiqIdnCs2uW4jsckck/s320/DSCF1056.JPG" /></a></div><br />
I moved every word around at least three times. I would arrange them in sections before gluing. I tried to picture the next area and work with the words I already cut out. It was much like a puzzle. <br />

Sorry that last one was taken late at night. <br />
<br />
I found the pile of cast off letters came in handy. If a word wasn't filling a particular cranny just right, I could find a slightly larger one to the trick. It also help to turn the canvas as you wrap the words. <br />
<br />
Ok! now it's time to seal it up. I ran out of podge, so a little Elmer's and water will have to do. A few coats to protect all that hard work! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi52jEnLVhB9NHAQoCzgK1Gs7k6sdICAQqAtVv5puPVLE1IodPgHOdLuNN2GVoudPMT1AMszFWfj5pZa5Bd0Oie1J9Pqjg2tJtPb7cxVNa1NsOSdfH05hZ-YX6MASEnhIVhZvSRSO72keY/s1600/IMG00250-20110203-0152+%252849%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear:right; float:right; margin-left:1em; margin-bottom:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi52jEnLVhB9NHAQoCzgK1Gs7k6sdICAQqAtVv5puPVLE1IodPgHOdLuNN2GVoudPMT1AMszFWfj5pZa5Bd0Oie1J9Pqjg2tJtPb7cxVNa1NsOSdfH05hZ-YX6MASEnhIVhZvSRSO72keY/s320/IMG00250-20110203-0152+%252849%2529.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I stippled the glue heavily over the lettering to really seal it up and to cover the glue that had oozed in the original gluing.<br />

I get many compliments on the <a href="http://ahomeforabunny.blogspot.com/2011/01/our-grove-hand-trees.html">modge podge hand trees</a> I made in our living room. I wanted to try this project again and trees are kind of my fave.<br />
<p>This winter I cut oodles of snowflakes out for the windows with Cricut Winter Lace cartridge. One of the flakes I loved is a peace sign flake. Then I thought- Hey! Those could easily become leaves!<br />
</p><p>I pulled out a previously painted green canvas and loads of scrapbook paper. I had my heart set on the owl paper for my tree so I tried to coordinate to it.<br />

<br />
I needed a low cost gift for Honey Bunny on Valentine's Day. Not only is this gift fun, but the cost, ZERO! No gift I buy ever seems to impress him much so hopefully I can wow him with this!<br />
<br />
So you've seen the game show "Deal or No Deal?" The basic concept and rules carry on to my Valentine's Day edition. I have 15 hearts taped on my canvas. On the back of each heart is a "prize." At the beginning of our game Honey Bunny will pick one heart and I will whisk it away to a sealed envelope. Just for fun, I will not look at it. That's also why the hearts are not numbered. I am going to mix them up then tape them on without looking.<br />
<br />
From there, Honey Bunny will choose hearts one at a time revealing what he has lost. I, then cross them off the list. This list will be posted next to the game board for him to see from the beginning. I didn't include a picture because some of it is for mature audiences only. WINK<br />
<br />
Ok now Honey Bunny might be getting nervous. He may end up with a back pat for a prize. Odds are looking against him... RING RING... Oh it's the banker calling tempting him with Mrs. Bunny taking out the trash for 2 weeks! Thank goodness there's no commercial breaks and Howie Mandel in my edition! <br />

I thought I would give it a try. Most tutorials I've seen fasten the roses to a styrofoam ball. Instead of running to the store I shopped the Christmas ornaments. I took small round glass ball ornaments to stand in for the styrofoam ball. It worked just fine. <br />
Originally, I was going to make a cluster of crepe paper kissing balls, but I was frustrated with variation of size and height of the roses. I knew I would go crazy making a herd of these. <br />
Then I saw the Christmas stash! I was struck with inspiration. I opened the craft cabinet and started pulling out ribbon and glitter that looked Valentiney. <br />
I glitterized a larger ball ornament. I wrapped ribbon around a cone shaped one. Did you notice the poofy one? It looks like a wadded up ball of curling ribbon - that's because it is! I just randomly glued on a round ornament then stuck and shaped the ribbon. I added some mini glitterized ornaments to the top. <br />
I hung everything up with ribbon and tacks at varying height. The ornaments already had a hanger - so easy!<br />
Its not perfect but is a great excuse for a smooch! <br />
Check back this week, I'm working on a Deal or No Deal Valentines Day game to play after the kids are in bed. Oh and its a no cost gift that you both can share !Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01609662096273310960noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3413921341712063318.post-24300100542390875372011-01-25T12:37:00.000-08:002011-02-11T21:21:29.589-08:00Our Grove, Hand Trees<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjADUHPL6SSycJFEaGk76BxPJTavpmrpn6Sq6W7yZvViKLZ8Uegw8Q4zdfJCRzBCovvhgMd1a5WrTSxLqiVhnwU335e3HY9c8fra4Dsu-yamaDOrw0kyj2jCB77xFYtnXeKcLEq3tgOHU8/s1600/blog6.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjADUHPL6SSycJFEaGk76BxPJTavpmrpn6Sq6W7yZvViKLZ8Uegw8Q4zdfJCRzBCovvhgMd1a5WrTSxLqiVhnwU335e3HY9c8fra4Dsu-yamaDOrw0kyj2jCB77xFYtnXeKcLEq3tgOHU8/s320/blog6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568383880735115138" /></a><br />

<br />
The original inspiration came from <a href="http://atsecondstreet.blogspot.com/2010/03/mod-podged-hand-trees.html">At Second Street</a><br />
I used scrapbook paper, canvas, and modge podge. <br />
<br />
First, with some left over yellow paint I gave the canvas a nice coat of color. <br />
Using my Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge I cut oodles of leaves in different sizes, patterns, and variations of the leaf. <br />
I couldn't fill a whole canvas with one kid so I decided to fit the whole family in!<br />
I gathered all the family and drew an outline of their hand. I loosely placed each hand on the canvas to see where each tree would fit. With a pencil, I lightly sketched a "cloud" above each hand to guide my leaf placement. <br />
I just went to town shaping my trees with podge coated leaves. I stuck the hand trunks of top and coated the whole thing with 5 coats of modge podge. <br />
I did a Little Starry Night action with the modge podge in the background for texture and interest. (which couldn't be captured by my camera)<br />
More of an afterthought, I added Our Grove in the corner with scraps. <br />
<br />
Kaleen@ At Second Street gives a detailed tutorial with lots of photos.<br />

Pesky shopping bags all over in the cabinet?<br />Grab a coffee can, a knife, and shopping bags. Cut a big X in the lid and stuff your bags in. All done and a little more organization. Yay!<br />A nice coat of spray paint could pretty this up quick, but its too cold here. <br />I'm off to make another for the upstairs bathroom and one for the van! So handy and my coffee can stash in use instead of waiting clutter.
